When the album
"Buena Vista Social Club"
was released in 1997, the whole world fell in love with Compay Segundo
and the everlasting "Chan Chan", the song that still embodies the
passionate spirit of Cuba. This year his band, Grupo Compay Segundo, will celebrate his 100th birthday with a World Tour and the launch of a Compact Disc booklet containing a re-release of their famous Cuban classics plus a DVD containing live songs and unseen backstages. As if their world-famous songs are not enough to attract a score of fans from all musical backgrounds, the Grupo Compay Segundo will be accompanied by a local symphonic orchestra in every location, so to create an unprecedented mix of Cuban sound and classical arrangements of unspeakable beauty.
