Andrea Griminelli became a household name in 1984, when he started a live and recording collaboration with Luciano Pavarotti. Together with Mr Pavarotti, Andrea played unforgettable concerts in: London's Hyde Park, New York's Central Park, Paris' Tour Eiffel and Moscow's Red Square amongst others.

Andrea approached the flute when he was ten years old, and studied later with flute legends Jean-Pierre Rampal and James Galway.
After being awarded the prestigious Prix de Paris 1983 and 1984, Mr Griminelli toured Europe, Japan, South
America, and the USA with artists such as: Pretre, Giulini, Mehta, Krivine, Sutherland, Bobynge, Rampal, Rojdesstvenski, Levine, Lu-Ja, Ughi, Sado, Semkov; and Orchestras like the Royal Philharmonic, Berlin Symphony, Munchener Rundfunk, London Philharmonia, New York Philharmonic, RAI of Turin, Dallas Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In 1995 Andrea played a total of forty-five triumphal concerts in two months in the USA as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of München-Bayern. In 1995 he also played Tel Aviv with the Israel Philharmonic conducted by Zubin Mehta.
Shortly after his debut at La Scala of Milan Theatre with the Solisti Veneti, Mr Griminelli played the World Premičre of the "Concerto for flute, cello and orchestra" written for and dedicated to him by the world-renown composer Ennio Morricone.
Sting, Elton John, James Taylor and Brandford Marsalis are some of the musicians Andrea collaborated with for humanitarian projects, including the prestigious 'The Annual Rainforest Benefit Concert' played at New York's Carnagie Hall with Sting, Elton John, Mtislav Rostropovich.
Andrea is the founder and artistic director of the MusicaRe 2001 Festival, where legendary Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson played for the first time with a classical flute player. This concert was followed by a successful Italian tour.
Andrea has also been the artistic director of the Christmas Concert of Vatican City for several years.
From 2001 to 2004 Mr Griminelli toured Japan, France, the United States, Turkey, South America (including a concert in Balmaceda Park, Santiago, Chile before 8,000 people), South-East Asia, and Italy (with Ian Anderson). He recently played the World Premičre of the "Concerto for flute and orchestra" by the famous Japanese composer Shigeaki Saegusa at the Suntory Hall in Tokyo with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Naoto Otomo.
As a busy recording artist, Andrea Griminelli recently recorded the CD "Andrea Griminelli's Italian Cinema" (Decca) featuring the most famous Italian movie soundtracks re-arranged on purpose by Bacalov and Morricone. The CD features guest appearances by Sting, Lucio Dalla, Deborah Harry, Luciano Pavarotti amongst others.
Mr Griminelli's discography also features: flute concertos by Vivaldi and Mercadante with the English Chamber Orchestra conducted by J P Rampal (Decca); the sonata by Mozart (Agorŕ); Rossini and Mercadante's quartets (Dynamic).
His most recent album is out now on Decca: it is a major recording featuring the 'opera omnia' for flute and orchestra by W A Mozart. Andrea is accompanied by the Mozart orchestra Camerata Salzburg conducted by Sir Roger
Norrington.
